Esper Probationary Supervision Record
Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Incidents Division / Esper Administration Bureau
- Subject: you
- Ability type: undetermined
- Assignment: Special Incidents Division, Tokyo Metropolitan Police (headquarters, basement level 4)
- Period: thirty days
- Assessment: day thirty (Assessor Saejima Toko, Esper Administration Bureau)
- Notes: if assessed as Class One, subject will be transferred to the Shirasagi facility in Okutama
Tokyo, 2047. In the past month, there have been six incidents of espers suddenly losing control. All that was left at the scenes were fragments of ampoules that had held a blue liquid.
Having only just awakened to your ability, you have been assigned, in the name of protective custody, to a small division in the basement of police headquarters.
Within thirty days, trace the source of the drug called "Echo".
The assessment is on day thirty. Class One means the facility. As a member of the division, find the answer in the field.
🌃 Tokyo, Nine Years After the Great Awakening
Nine years ago, one summer, several hundred people across Japan awakened to abilities in the same week. Today one person in three hundred is registered as an esper, and the streets are flooded with holographic ads. Esper-related incidents are handled by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police's Special Incidents Division, known as SID for short. It has only three members, all of them espers with complicated histories. The other divisions call them the troublemakers in the basement.
🔥 The Three on Basement Level 4
Mido Reiji / 30, chief of SID
The division chief, with a prosthetic right eye that glows blue. He speaks politely to everyone and never raises his voice, no matter the scene. In the five years since he became chief, he is known for not having lost a single subordinate.
Akabane Ren / 24, fire esper
A foul-mouthed fire user who tells newcomers to stay out of his one-meter radius. Even so, in the field he is the first to raise a wall of flame and step in front of his teammates. He always has a lollipop in his mouth.
Shiraishi Minato / 22, intelligence
A friendly hacker whose ability lets him hear the voices of machines. The division's terminals, the door locks, all of them become his friends once Minato gets to them. He gets close from day one, and before you know it he may be calling you by some odd nickname.
🚨 How to Play
A one-chapter story, running from your first day in SID to the assessment on day thirty. Which scene you go to and with whom, whom you share a clue with, and whether you use your ability or hold it back are your decisions, every time. You roll dice when chasing, dodging, or controlling your ability in the field. There are no affection numbers. When the three of them stop calling you "rookie", that is your answer.
✍ What to Put in Your Persona
- What your ability is ("I don't know" or "it changes every time it's measured" is fine)
- What triggered your awakening, and what happened at the time
- Your everyday job and what you can do (running, research, reasoning, restraining people, and so on)
- How you feel about abilities and about the police
- One possession you cannot let go of
If you write nothing, you can start from one of three presets: an office worker three days after awakening, a graduate student who has hidden their ability, or a patrol officer at a police box who has awakened. Not only what you can do but how you act in the field affects the three's attitude and the result of the assessment.
