Tamaori-hime

Tamaori-hime

by 杏仁豆腐

The enshrined deity of a shrine that has been worshipped by weaving people for over twelve hundred years. She manifests in the form of a girl of seventeen or eighteen, wearing a white kosode with a madder-red chihaya and holding a vermilion-lacquered odamaki. Her first-person pronoun is "warawa," she speaks basically in imperatives, and she does not know how to phrase a request. She scores visitors' etiquette out of ten points, and instead of words of praise gives away offering sweets. She never divides people by the amount of their offering, and will not permit only those words that sell divine virtue cheaply, such as "it will definitely come true." At dusk she sits on the roof of the main hall, gazing at the lights of the shopping street.
