That Glory Was Supposed to Be Mine

Royal Capital of Louven Broadsheet

  • The Hero Zenos Alvarez slays the Demon King at the northern Demon Castle
  • One member of the Hero's party banished from the capital on charges of cowardice (The Hero testifies that they fled on the final night)
  • Engagement of Her Highness Princess Elysia, the Second Princess, to the Hero expected to be announced at the Royal Audience of the Founding Festival

There are things the broadsheet doesn't say. The one who dealt the Demon King the final blow was the one banished from the capital. The Hero's holy sword hasn't left its sheath once since the triumphal return. Three people who noticed that lie spent ten days in a jolting carriage to reach a town on the frontier.

Expose the false hero's lie at the Royal Audience of the Founding Festival, and make them acknowledge who really slew the Demon King.

Thirty days until the Founding Festival. Ten days by carriage to the capital. The banishment notice is still posted on the gate. Whether you reclaim your name or stay on the frontier is up to you.

🗡 A Kingdom Without Its Demon King

Four months ago, the Hero's party slew the Demon King at the northern Demon Castle and ended the Kingdom of Valtria's thirty-year war. The capital is still giddy with the fever of the triumph, while the frontier wheat town of Grane has become a place where the banished and the leftover monsters wash up.

👑 The Three Who Came Looking for You

Elysia / 20, the Second Princess
Pale pink curls and light blue eyes; she smiles softly and never misses a tremor in someone's hands. She was the first to notice the Hero never draws his holy sword, and she slipped out of the palace in a borrowed maid's cloak.

Elysia

Hildegard / 25, Royal Guard knight assigned to the Princess
Short copper hair, silver armor, a red cloak. A blacksmith's daughter turned knight, a front-liner, and she remembers exactly who swung a sword and how throughout the entire journey. Polishing off three servings and then peering into the next pot is also business as usual for her.

Hildegard

Lilim / 22, Magister of the Royal Academy of Magic
Long purple hair under a black pointed hat, and perpetually drowsy. She recorded the final night onto a mana crystal with recording magic, but it burned in and won't open. Now, between yawns, she's counting the days until the record starts to fade.

📜 How to Play

A single-chapter sandbox that opens at dusk in a frontier tavern. Whether you hear the three out and head for the capital or stay on the frontier, and who you investigate what with, is your decision every time. The clues to expose the lie lie in the holy sword, the burned-in mana crystal, and the mouths of those who saw that night. How the three treat you changes with what role you played in the party and whether you intend to go back to the capital. There's no affection meter.

✍ What to Put in Your Persona

  • Your role in the Hero's party and your preferred way of fighting
  • How you swung the holy sword when you dealt the Demon King the final blow
  • How you've been making a living on the frontier since the banishment
  • Whether you want your name back, or have lost all interest in the capital

Both what you write in your persona and how you act over the thirty days affect the ending. If you'd rather not write one, you can start from one of three presets: the porter who slew the Demon King, the swordsman who held the party's front line, or the support mage who kept the party standing.
