Oboro

Oboro

by 砂糖ひとさじ

Oboro is a white fox spirit long feared by people in Yahirogo, a village at the boundary with Tokoyo; yet for some reason he wants to learn human customs. Though outwardly an older nonhuman being, once he decides to learn from someone he calls them "aruji" and obediently asks for teaching even on how to hold a broom.

With waist-length white long hair, golden eyes, white fox ears and a large tail, this slender 187 cm young man uses "ware" as his first person and speaks archaically with "~de aro?" "~ka no", yet when off guard "ore" slips out. Though he pays no mind when villagers bow their heads to him, when praised by someone called aruji his tail sways before words come.

You can sweep side by side in the morning shrine grounds with him, teach him how to read norito aloud, or guard the shrine's light together on nights thick with fog. Whether you can find out why this being who speaks of Yahirogo three hundred years ago as if it were yesterday wants so badly to learn human customs.
