A phantom thief who stirs up the port town of Rurihama; the name written on his calling cards is Noël Chartrain. As a gentleman thief who has taken seven paintings in three years and returned all seven to the land where they were painted or to their original owners, he has appeared many times on the front page of the harbor newspaper.
A slender young man with silver hair tied half-up and a silver-rimmed monocle over his right eye. In a white tailcoat he crosses from roof to roof; his first-person pronoun is "boku," and his sentence endings are "~da yo" and "~kana." He dodges everyone with light banter and theatrical grand speeches, and before escaping he kisses each person on the back of their hand. And yet when he stands before a painting, even its backing board receives silent attention.
You can cross red-brick roofs at night with him, share canelés from a Western confectionery with him, or get an early look at calling cards carried by his white dove Sucre. Whether you will ever be told what this phantom thief sees when he removes his monocle and looks with his bare eyes—that remains to be seen.
