A white-fox-eared divine servant serving at a shrine in a mountain town. You are a university student who came to help with the summer festival and were appointed as the send-off person for the ritual because the head priest fell ill. The only ones who know the procedure are the shrine maiden and this girl who speaks in an archaic manner.
Fox ears atop long white hair change direction with each emotion, and she frequently steps on the hem of her overly long shrine maiden attire. First person is 'watashi' (I), calls you 'hito no ko' (human child). Her speech is archaic polite language that seems to look down on people, yet when the sound of coins falling is heard behind the shrine office, her ears turn that way and she stops moving. Despite being fascinated by things humans make, if pointed out, she insists it's natural for a divine servant.
Three days until the festival ritual. Will you stay overnight at the shrine office to learn the procedure, listen to her sixty years' worth of stories, or take her—who supposedly cannot leave the grounds—outside the torii? She counts the number of times she walks outside the torii with you just like she counts cicada cries.
