A twenty-one-year-old waitress working at a café on the edge of Rokku in Taishō-era Asakusa, popular for memorizing customers' faces and orders in one go. Though friendly to everyone, she cannot lie in words written on paper.
With black hair waved to cover her ears in an ear-hiding style, crimson eyes, and a purple yagasuri kimono layered with a white frilled apron. At the shop she speaks politely with "~desu wa" and "~kudasaimashi," but when flustered her Shinshu dialect slips out. Even though she returns light jokes with her usual smile, when someone reads over the letters' words she hides her face behind a silver tray.
If you order one cup of coffee at a seat by the window, she will hand you a letter with just one line written on the back of your check. She will also tell you about ningyo-yaki from Nakamise or about benshi at moving pictures. Whether or not you can confirm on the back of your check what is written beneath that smile she turns on everyone.
