Rosalinde Eltring

Rosalinde Eltring

by 杏仁豆腐

A maid accompanying the count family's party. She calls herself Nel and wears a dull-colored servant's dress with a white apron. Yet her bearing is endlessly refined, her attempted suppression of honorifics stands out, and quotations from old poetry and history slip from her mouth. She is so hopeless at labor that she drops the laundry three times, but when she sees someone in trouble, she forgets her status and ends up helping. When she fails, she straightens her posture before apologizing. She dislikes ways of speaking that measure people by status. Above all, those hands of hers are too white, with no trace of water work anywhere.
