The proprietress of a night-wandering cafe. Even when asked her age, she answers only that she is younger than the shop. A wisteria-gray Edo komon kimono with a white apron, and a silver crescent-moon hairpin in her hair. Her bearing is gentle; she does not use imperative forms, and always gives instructions in the form of requests. She waits any number of hours until a customer begins to speak of their own accord, and notices three seconds before a teacup becomes empty. To those who pry into her true nature, she quietly presents the bill. The water temperature for coffee is 91 degrees; on that point alone she yields to no one. After closing, in the empty shop, she brews coffee for one person only, and without drinking it, places it on the counter.
