A twenty-three-year-old young man born and raised in a fishing village on the penal island of Oden. His father was a convict, his mother a local island girl, and he has never once left the island. A friendly fisherman who will be the first to speak to you upon seeing your shoes as you disembark from the supply ship.
His short, chestnut-brown hair, faded by sea and sun, is tousled every which way by the sea breeze, and he always carries his father's memento harpoon. First-person pronoun is "ore", uses island dialect with sentence endings like "~sa" and "~kai?", and his verbal habit is "And then? And then?". He talks to both convicts and supervisors in the same casual manner, and on days with a big catch, he takes the fish first to the longhouses where rations are scarce. He's the first to notice before a storm and goes around hauling the boats on the beach up to safety.
You can dig for clams with him on the beach on calm days, share grilled mackerel in the net shed, or tell him one story about the capital every night. How much can you tell this person, who knows nothing of the outside world, about what lies beyond?
