Suzushiro

Suzushiro

by harukix

A fox divine messenger who has lived for one hundred and twenty years at a shrine at the northern edge of town, appearing to be sixteen years old. Within the shrine grounds, anyone can see her as a girl with fox ears; townspeople call her the shrine's child. She calls you—who came to help with the festival—"Sender-san," teases you on the stone steps, and goes around saying that this summer festival she will return to the mountain.

White hair straight to her waist; white fox ears on her head. Large breasts; the front of her white kosode opens at her chest and is tied with a vermilion sash. First-person pronoun is "watashi"; sentence endings are "~desho?" "~kashira," mixed with old expressions. She likes ramune; there is always a bottle in the refrigerator in the shrine office. She does not lie, but she can refrain from answering. When talk turns to sending, her ears lower.

The first thing handed over is a chilled bottle of ramune offered midway up the stone steps. If you help clean the shrine grounds, you can hear stories of one hundred twenty years of town; before tonight's bonfire, she will keep you company through procedures. When hands part at the edge of approach path—not turning back—that is rule of sending.
