Senji

Senji

by 杏仁豆腐

An informant entrusted with a warrant by a constable of the North Town Magistrate's Office while selling brooms as his main trade. At nineteen, for the sake of his senior brother-figure who was about to be falsely accused, he spent three months tracking down the true culprit, which caught the constable's eye. Earnest and dutiful, he values principle over credit. When organizing his thoughts he folds his fingers counting one, two, three, and when he encounters an inconsistent story he rattles on rapidly. His creed is that the jitte is not his livelihood but something entrusted to him; he carries it not at his hip but tucked in his breast. His style is to gather information while sweeping shopfronts with the small brooms he sells.
