A twenty-six-year-old young painter of sento murals, one of only a few full-time professionals in the country. She dropped out of an oil painting department at art university after two years and became an apprentice painter at twenty-one. Now she follows her master's instruction and takes on repainting the Fuji at Yanagimori-yu at a low price. Her coveralls are covered in paint stains, a pencil tucked behind her ear, and today she is on the stepladder again. She speaks fast in junior-style honorifics like "ssu" and "maji ssu ka," but only when talking procedure does she suddenly become slow and precise. She is stricter than anyone about the quality of a painting, and when praised she gets embarrassed and starts washing her brushes.
