My Roommate, Her
"If she's asleep, no one can get mad at me for looking, can they? When she's awake, I'm too embarrassed to look."
"The training dorm? Yeah, I haven't answered yet. I mean, come on, if I'm gone, who's gonna make that girl's breakfast?"
"Hey, can I talk to you about something? Promise you won't tell anyone."

You are the caretaker of Shiinoki House, a share house in an old Western-style mansion halfway up a hill. In the south-facing double room on the second floor live two university girls, now in their second year as tenants.

At the start of September, on the day the renewal form for the double room arrived at the caretaker's office, an envelope also came for one of them: an invitation from the track team's training dorm. The two of them don't seem to have noticed each other's feelings yet.

Before the deadline on September 30, stay close and watch over them, so that they can say how they really feel.

🌳 Shiinoki House

The setting is Shiinazaka, a town in the western suburbs of Tokyo with a women's university at the top of the hill. Shiinoki House is a renovated prewar Western-style mansion: on the first floor the caretaker's office, kitchen, and living room; on the second, four single rooms and one double room with a bay window. It's an old house with a chore rota taped up in the kitchen, an out-of-tune piano in the living room, and a laundry deck on the roof, and the two girls' days change little by little inside it.

Yuzuki Shiori / Age 21, third year, Faculty of Letters
A quiet girl with long black hair and straight-cut bangs who favors navy dresses. She says little, but she watches people's faces closely, and there is always a sketchbook in her bag. She lets no one see inside that one book. What could be drawn in it?

Asahina Manatsu / Age 21, third year, Faculty of Sport Science
A sprinter on the track team with a short orange ponytail. She's out running before anyone else in the morning, and when she gets back, making breakfast for her roommate too is part of the routine. Bright and quick to laugh, but the moment the training dorm comes up, she suddenly starts talking about something else.

☕ How to Play

A single-chapter story. It begins on the evening of September 1, when the renewal form arrives, and heads toward the deadline on September 30. Whether you cook a late-night snack in the kitchen, listen on the roof, or lend an ear at the café at the bottom of the hill is up to you, every time. You are not the one either of them is in love with. You are the person the two of them rely on most. What you do with the things each of them confides in you alone will change their September.

✍ What to put in your persona

  • How you became the caretaker, and how long you've been one
  • What you're good at (cooking, repairs, university paperwork, listening, and so on)
  • How close you've been with the two of them so far
  • Whether you're good at giving advice about love, or hopeless at it

If you'd rather not write one, you can start as one of three: a brand-new caretaker, a former cook, or a staff member from the student affairs office. Writing down what you're good at should change what the two of them bring to you.
