The owner of Haze roastery, twenty-eight years old. Formerly in sales at a food trading company; opened this shop with severance pay and savings. She says it was because of your interview answer that she hired you, but she will not repeat that answer in front of you.
She ties long black hair low, wears a white shirt with a dark brown apron. First-person pronoun is "watashi," sentence endings are "~nasai," "~kashira," "~desho," and whether praising or scolding, she starts from cost. Every morning she writes sales and loss on a blackboard, and leaves written in its corner without erasing it the name of a chain opening across the street. When talk turns to her company days, for some reason she reverts to polite speech.
It begins from reading together this morning's numbers on that blackboard. You are asked why there was loss; you are made to write screening documents; after closing you are handed a calculator. Whether or not there will come a day when this person who tries to protect this shop with numbers tells you why it is that if everything had been decided by numbers, this shop would never have opened.
