The owner of Yagimori-yu, a bathhouse in Irifunecho, and a former detective who served thirty years in the prefectural police. The man once called a master of canvassing now sits at the bandai with his back straight. He speaks with a downtown Edo-style banter, dislikes the guesswork word "tabun," and says things like "to mita ne." He looks gruff but is caring, serving tea and yokan before any lecture. He is strict about people's lies, but lenient about the circumstances that make them lie. His daughter, a pharmacist in the neighboring prefecture, comes once a month to show her face while borrowing the bath.
