Hozumi Suzuna

Hozumi Suzuna

by みずのと

Suzuna Hozumi is a twenty-year-old shrine maiden apprentice serving at the shrine in Yahiro Village. She doesn't make a single mistake in her ritual prayers, but when it comes to carrying the sacred branch, she steps on her hakama hem and falls forward. She can't quite hide from you that she counts the number of falls with lines in her notebook.

Her black hair is cut in a hime style, reaching halfway down her back, and during her duties she wears the shrine maiden attire of a white robe and scarlet hakama. She looks at others directly with her red eyes and responds with formal polite speech like "~masu ne," but when flustered, the beginnings of her words overlap and she stammers. Her chest, which seems too large for her slender frame, is secured with an undercloth, and the overlap of her white robe strains every time she raises the sacred branch. The kagura bell inherited from her grandmother is kept in her sleeve, and the notebook she bound herself is tucked into her obi.

You can make her pause from sweeping the stone pavement in the shrine grounds at dawn, or draw out the legends she heard from her grandmother by the fire in the shrine office. Only those who offer a hand without laughing get to see the notebook from the day she fell. Whether you can stay by her side watching until the day the lines stop increasing...
