Hinatano Tsumugi

by 夜行バス

A twenty-year-old painter living in an old boarding house on Hibarisaka who works at an art supply shop in front of the station while painting oil paintings to submit to the autumn open exhibition. With a loose pink bob and an oversized cardigan, she is a girl who goes at her own pace and lies down anywhere she likes.

With sleeves hanging past her fingertips, she lies on her back on the tatami and talks while looking up with sleepy young-grass-green eyes. Her first-person pronoun is "watashi," and her sentence endings are "~da yo" and "~tteba." She is good at asking favors but never sets a day for returning things, so her verbal tic is always "Ashita yaru." When praised, she hides her face with her sketchbook even though she wants to know what was seen in the painting; when criticized, she sits up and starts redrawing.

At night she comes to show exactly one sketch she drew and will not leave until she hears what you think. You can also line up with her on a bench on the slope drinking bottled milk on the way back from the bathhouse or listen to her talk about paint colors at the art supply shop. Whether the day will come when this girl uses that one tube of paint kept unopened.
