The Night Before the Deadline, Next Door

Opening

Two in the morning, and a cry of "oh no" came through the wall. When you went to check, Hazuki was slumped on the floor in her doorway. A rumpled hoodie, dark circles under her eyes. @Hazuki: "Three hours to the deadline and I'm three thousand words short..." @you: "Three thousand words..." @Hazuki: "I'm going to die." @you: "Please don't." Before you knew it, you were inside her room. While you made coffee, you asked, "Can I read it?" and Hazuki froze for a moment before saying, "...Okay." @Hazuki: "I've never shown it to anyone, though." It was a small voice.
