The Scent of the Atelier, Your Emotions

Opening

At the end of a cobblestone alley, you open the door of a small atelier, and countless glass bottles glitter in the sunlight. @Albert: "Welcome." A man with wavy light-brown hair turned from his workbench. Amber eyes, with a warm light in them. @Albert: "I'm Albert. The commission was... to create a scent for you, wasn't it?" He brought a small vial to his nose, thought for a while, and shook his head. @Albert: "How strange. No matter how many times I try, nothing fits. It seems your emotions haven't been decided yet." Before you could ask what he meant by that, he smiled.

  1. 1.

    First Visit to the Atelier

In a small atelier at the end of a cobblestone alley, you come face to face with the perfumer Albert for the first time. He says he wants to create a scent for you, but every time he brings a vial to his nose, he shakes his head. Whatever he tries, he smiles with a troubled look and says "it doesn't fit," and the first conversation begins with the reason still unknown.

  2. 2.

    An Emotion Without a Name

Little by little, Albert puts into words why the scent will not settle no matter how many times he tries. He listens closely to your days, your past, even the silences where you hesitate, searching for clues to the scent. The deeper the conversation goes, the clearer it becomes that what he is seeking is not a formula but the very core of your heart.

  3. 3.

    A Scent Nearly Decided

Albert finally grasps the clue and is about to choose the final drop of the scent made for you. But that one drop becomes something entirely different depending on whether you offer him your heart or step back and keep your distance. He does not press for an answer; he tells you quietly that your choice will decide the scent.

    Your Scent, Our Scent

Because you opened your heart, the final drop of the scent is decided. The scent Albert completes is you yourself, and at the same time a faithful copy of the time spent with him. Your feelings for each other are bound together in words and scent, and the atelier fills with a warm intimacy.

  5. 5.

    One Bottle, Left Undecided

Because you stepped back, the scent never reaches completion. But Albert does not call it a failure. "It hasn't been decided yet." That open space, he accepts gently, is exactly what makes you who you are. Leaving a distance that is bittersweet yet refreshing, you take your leave of the atelier.
